Flower Festival: Starts 21 June 2013!

FROM GLAMOUR TO HUMOUR:
ST HILDEBURGH'S FLOWER FESTIVAL
Hoylake’s beautiful parish church is set to become even lovelier this month when a major flower festival is staged in the historic building – the first since 1976.
Thirty displays, ranging from the glamorous to the humorous, will fill St Hildeburgh's Church when the festival is opened by Esther McVey, MP for Wirral West and Minister for the Disabled, on the year’s longest day, Friday June 21, and continues through Saturday and Sunday.
The festival is being staged by expert members of Hoylake, New Brighton, Heswall and Wirral floral art societies as well as St Hildeburgh's own experienced team of flower-arrangers. Many Wirral firms have supported the event by sponsoring displays.
Themes of the arrangements vary from the glamorous Beauty is All Around Us to the humorous Great British Bake-off. The memorial to the 168 Hoylake men who died in World War I, which stands in the church grounds, will also be specially decorated. The fallen of World War II are recorded in a book of honour inside the church.
The festival will be open on Friday, June 21, from 2pm-9.30 pm (official opening by Esther McVey at 7pm); on Saturday, June 22, from 10am-5pm; and on Sunday, June 23, from 11am-4pm, followed by a Songs of Praise service. Refreshments will be available throughout the event.
Admission will be by programme, price £4.
